Mermaid Zippy
Mermaid Zippy is a fun-loving and bubbly freshwater mermaid from the lakes and rivers of the Carolinas. She finds joy in performing for humans and other aquatic folk, so she became a popstar! Her best friend and bandmate is Freckles the harbor seal, and the two of them travel through all sorts of waters to bring their show to as many people as possible. Since Zippy and Freckles care deeply for the world around them and the places that give them a stage, their goal is to leave each place a little better than they found it.
The Human Behind the Magic
Lauren is a North Carolina-based performer and educator. Her mermaid journey began in 2023 while she was touring with a popular ice show, and needed a fun way to stay in shape while on the road. After her time with the tour ended she began connecting with other merfolk and learning more about mermaiding, eventually earning her PADI Mermaid Instructor certification in 2025. She aims to make mermaiding and water safety more accessible, promote environmental education, and encourage a love of learning.
